Creative writing(English and Tamil)

A video or a slide show corresponding to the theme will be played. Writing should be in prose form. Duration of 1 hour will be provided. Points will be based on creativity, language and relevance to topic. The best work will be published in VYUHA’09 souvenir. 

Poetry (English and Tamil)

A photograph will be shown on which a poem has to be composed in 1 hour. Points will be based on poetic style, diction and feelings expressed. The best work will be published in VYUHA’09 souvenir.

Dumb charades

Two participants per team. An off stage prelims will be held in which 1 minute will be provided for each team. The topic for prelims will be tamil movies. 6 teams will be selected for the finals which will consist of personalities, movies, songs and rapid fire.  

Turn coat

6 minute preparation time will be given for a performance time of 3 minutes. The person should speak both for and against the topic. Points will be based on flow of language, diction and switch over skills. 

Mock-a-person

1 personality will be given to a participant whose mockery should be done for 3 minutes. Preparation time of 6 minutes will be given. Questions will be asked after the performance. Points will be based on wit and sense of humor. No personal offence on the person should be done on the stage. 

Big bore

3 minutes of duration will be given. Judegement will be based on innovation, degree of boredom achieved.  

Shilpa vrishti- Fine arts 
General guidelines:

Necessary accessories should be brought by the participants. Chart paper and vegetables will be provided for painting, pencil sketching and vegetable designing respectively. 

Rangoli

3 participants per team. Theme will be guven 1 hour before. 1 hour drawing time will be provided. Points will be based on innovation and artistic presence. 

Mehendi

Duration 1 hour. You can use a model on whose hands the mehendi is drawn. Theme/freestyle. 
 
Soap carving

1 hour duration. Any number of soaps can be used. Judgment will be based on innovation. Theme/freestyle. 

Painting

Theme will be given on the spot. 1 hour duration. Any kind of paint can be used. Points will be based on innovation, relevance to theme and artistic presence. 

Art from waste

1 hour duration. Points will be based on innovation in the type of waste material used and the product obtained. Theme/freestyle.  

Hair styling

One stylist and one model are permitted. Artificial hair should not be used. Any number of accessories can be used. Theme/freestyle. Points will be based on innovation, suitability to the model and aesthetic appeal.  

Vegetable designing

This event is scheduled for the last day. Hence participants are requested to indicate the kind and number of vegetables needed on the first day itself. 1 hour duration. Points will be based on innovation. No restriction on theme. 

Face painting

Duration 1 hour. 1 artist and 1 model are permitted. Choose your theme beforehand.  

Pencil sketching

Duration 1 hour. Topic will be given on the spot. Only H, B & HB pencils are allowed.

Points will be based on innovation, relevance to the theme and artistic appeal.
